Ilona Kiss (PhD, b. 1955) is a specialist on the history of Russian culture, translator of Russian philosophy and literature, and editor-in-chief of the magazine “Russian Quarter” of the Institute of Russian Studies, Budapest. She graduated in Comparative Literature Studies, as well as in Hungarian and Russian literature in Budapest, ELTE University. She obtained her PhD in Theory of Literature at the same university. Prior to working as an independent researcher focusing on cross-cultural issues, she pursued a public policy and diplomatic carrier in the cultural sector. As senior advisor on culture in the Municipality of Budapest (2009-2013) and at the Budapest Office in Brussels, she was engaged in harmonization of Hungarian cultural and educational policy with EU standards. As director of the Hungarian Cultural Centre in Moscow, and cultural counselor of the Russian Federation in Hungary (2003-2008), she contributed to the reorganization of the Hungarian-Russian cultural relations, as well as translation and publication of Hungarian literature in Russia, created a network of Hungarian Information Points in the Russian regions with Finno-Ugric population, resumed direct contacts between universities and art colleges. As editor-in-chief of the Hungarian journal “Beszélő” (1995-2003), she published a series of interviews with prominent figures of modern Russian literature and culture. As manager of projects with CIS countries and Russia in the Budapest Open Society Institute (1996-2001), she organized the Russian Studies Center affiliated with the OSI/COLPI. As assistant professor at the University of Economics, she authored textbooks and manuals of Russian language. Since 1988 published about 20 translated books and a considerable number of studies and essays of Russian thinkers (Berdyaev, P. Florensky, Vl. Solovyov, the Slavophiles, etc.), was one of the founders of the series «Idea Russica» for Századvég / Osiris Publishing House. Her articles, reviews and studies on Russian culture and society are published in various Hungarian magazines. A frequent speaker at international conferences. Regularly collaborates with Russian organizations such as the New Eurasia Foundation, the Russian Council for International Affairs, the Institute of Law and Religion. Her most recent book is “Russia: An Intellectual Guide” (in Hungarian).

Илона Киш (PhD, р. 1955) – литературовед-русист, переводчик русской философской мысли и художественной литературы, главный редактор журнала «Русский квартал» будапештского университета. В 2009-2013 старший советник по культуре в мэрии города Будапешт, в 2010 советник в представительстве Будапешта в Брюсселе. В 2003–2008 директор Венгерского культурного центра в Москве, советник по культуре Венгрии в РФ. По оценке обеих сторон, в этот период был достигнут прорыв в венгеро-российских культурных отношениях, возобновились переводческие и издательские связи, был успешно проведён совместный культурный сезон. По моей инициативе был создан сеть «Венгерских кабинетов» в российских регионах с финно-угорским населением, возобновились прямые контакты между университетами и художественными вузами. В 1995-2003 гг. была главным редактором журнала Beszélő ('Собеседник'), в которой в т.ч. публиковала серию бесед с выдающимися деятелями современной русской литературы и культуры, некоторые из них были впервые представлены для венгерских читателей. В 1996-2001 работала в будапештском Институте открытого общества руководителем проектов, связанных с странами СНГ и Россией, организовала при Институте Центр российских исследований. В 1980-1989 преподавала русский язык в экономическом университете. С 1988 г. публикуются мои переводы русских мыслителей (Н. Бердяев, П. Флоренский, Вл. Соловьёв, славянофилы итд.), была одним из основателей ерии «Idea Russica» при издательстве Озирис, как эксперт по русской культуре сотрудничаю с венгерскими издательствами «Европа», «Магвето», «Типотекс» итд. Мои статьи, рецензии и исследования о русской культуре и обществе публикуются в разных венгерских журналах. Часто выступаю на международных конференциях. Регулярно сотрудничаю с такими российскими организациями, как Фонд «Новая Евразия», Российский совет международных дел, Институт права и религии, инициируя совместные проекты и мероприятия.
