Seminar by professor Radina N.K. 'PRACTICAL BIOPOLITICS'

June 4, 2015 Sholokhov University hosted the Academic Talk and Workshop delivered by Ph.D. in Political Science, Professor in Social Psychology Nadezhda K. Radina "Practical Bio-politics: Strategies of Provincial Townspeople Resistance to Official Ideology of Gender Relations". The Seminar was held as part of the RIAS international program.
The Seminar covered the issues of modern Russian official ideology in the area of gender relations that defines a specific set of social scripts for both men and women. The use of IT-technologies in the processing of interview texts can provide a sound answer to the questions: who actually keeps the "traditional Russian lifestyle" and supports the patriarchal gender roles in provincial Russia, also: who, how and why changes the gender order.
The Workshop was attended by guest experts - Natalia L. Pushkareva (PhD. in Historical Sciences, Head of Ethnic-gender research sector Miklukho-Maclay Ethnology and Anthropology Institute RAS) and Yelena A. Zdravomyslova (Professor Department of Political Science and Sociology, Co-Supervisor Master Program "Gender Studies" at European University in St. Petersburg).

The Seminar was held as part of the International grant program RIAS Sholokhov University 2014-2015.
